Proposal

Imaginary Movies

Our proposed show, Imaginary Movies is a group show including a strong collection of artists working on a simple but very ductile and imagation sparking theme. The concept is as the title suggests. Every artist will have their own imaginary movie in mind, and create  artwork for their film. It could be a movie poster, or still shot, or stage diorama, comic book adaptation, or anything else they can think of. But the real hook is at least 2 of the artists will actually create their imaginary movies via animation and film.  These 2 films will make their world premiere at the opening of the event, and possibly have additional screenings during the exhibition’s stay.
Here is a pair of trailers from these film makers.

The artists will be selected by their indivisualistic take on art as well as expirence and skill in their respected mediums. As if we were bringing in some of the greatest directors to come together to make films. The attendees will be able to walk through the gallery and step into one artists ideas to the next, sometimes mixing and over lapping with collaborations.

The show will be curated by Teppei Ando (Murder Dollhouse) & Derek Wood (Post Coitus/ Holloys) who have a lot of expirence curating art shows and events in Los Angeles and the Bay Area.

2 well documented artshows/events in  the same vein as proposed show can be seen below.

Sound & Flurries – which featured work by Teppei Ando, Alika Cooper, RIki Henderson, Elise Mahan, Brendan Monroe, Tamar Solomon, Deth P. Sun and Marci Washington

Heroes & Villains
– which featured work by Teppei Ando, Graham Annable, David Ball, Ben Catmul, Mary Cook, Alika Cooper, Matt Hart, Mat Hewitt, Jonah Olson, Deth P SunMark Todd and Derek Wood

Imaginary Movies will feature several of our veteran crew of artists (Alika Cooper, Deth P Sun, Brendan Monroe, Jonah Olson, Marci Washington, Matt Hewitt) while we will approach other established artists to join our team. We will be approaching Sonny Smith, Julie Doucet, Erik Yahnker, Allison Schulnik to start with as we have already made connections and admire their work.

Our team has a diverse background, but everybody who will be involved has brought unique perspective to their exisiting work, and we expect great new ideas both beautiful and engaging. We would love to work with your gallery to make this idea come to life.

Thank you for you Time.
Teppei and Derek
